7 Habits of Successful Students
The key to success is to develop skills you will need before you need them. Do you think they hand a soldier a weapon and send him or her off to battle without extensively training them BEFORE they will be in combat? High can be a war, especially if you bring bad habits with you, or fail to develop new habits for the additional challenges of high school. In your academic career, this freshman year is one of the two most difficult you will ever face. The other is your freshman year in college. In both cases the challenges are very similar: the work gets much harder, and you are required to assume additional responsibility for your academic success. In high school it can mean failing classes that may need to be repeated, and possibly delaying graduation. In college, bad habits contribute greatly to the 50% dropout rate of new freshman after just one year. The time is now to develop the skills that can make academics and learning more efficient, and less time consuming. Learn the lessons of other students what worked for them and got them better grades.
